The current White House administration has several unofficial top advisers. They are A Lot of People Say, Some People Say and their kissing cousins.
We know they’re top advisers because the White House occupant invokes them often.
Here’s one: “You know, some people say that was not his birth certificate,” the future president said in 2013, referring to the then president.
And another whose advice today’s president acknowledged in 2018: “A lot of people are saying they had spies in my campaign.”
A nod to the same adviser in 2016, about a suggestion that the then president had encouraged Muslim extremism: “A lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there.”
Then last month, about children and the coronavirus: “And a lot of people are saying they don’t transmit.”
Also last month, about Russia’s alleged payment of bounties to the Taliban to kill U.S. servicemembers: “A lot of people said it’s a fake issue.”
These advisers clearly are well informed and perfectly placed to shape judgments and guide policy making. When do you s’pose we’ll meet them?
As a lot of people used to say: “Right on!”
Hah! Thanks, Terry.
