Me, looking at celebrities

I’ll confess it. I am incredibly shallow. I’ve just spent another summer afternoon totally enthralled by celebrity before-and-afters.

Some nefarious outfit puts out new ones every day. They seem to know I need my fix.

They’ll start with a teaser: “Jennifer Lopez was a va-va-voom baby.” Or a titillation: “Their Wicked Secrets! Starlets Who Binge!”

Once they hook me (two seconds), I’m down for a slide show of people who were incredibly glamorous in their 20s. They’re exactly whatever was in style then. I love the big hair and the sultry grins.

I especially study the ones who’ve become horrible-looking, and I hate myself for thinking they haven’t “kept themselves up.” (But why should they? Says my good self. I don’t fret about my looks. Much.)

It’s all really to make me feel superior. I’m not as degenerate-looking as X. It’s also to make me buy products – maybe an eyebrow pencil or a scarf.

But I’ll outfox them. As with all great moments in life, I know what to get.

Potato chips. All humans look best when chips are down.

Baby, you’ll be famous

  1. Lol I do this too! The click-bait gets me every time and 40+ clicks later I’m still looking for that before/after of Ariana Grande that lured me in the first place. I actually love before/afters of almost anything – celebrities, homes, scenery, up-cycling, etc…
