Deception. Selfishness. Facts.

We choose to accept facts, or not, based on our susceptibility to deception, our capacity to exalt ourselves over others and our willingness to see things as they are.

So, we tell children about the Tooth Fairy knowing it is fake. Our children believe because they have faith in parents – until they eventually see the fairy as it is. Ditto for Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

Deception.

Our nation’s founding generation promoted the notion that “all men are created equal,” while treating some men as less than equal and even less than human. They did so fully aware of the contradictions between their ideals and actions.

Today, our actions still fall short of our ideals, despite a Civil War to settle the question of humans as property and amendments and laws to establish legal equality.

Selfishness.

Now comes more to test us:

Increased testing is the sole cause of rising coronavirus cases in the U.S.

Face masks threaten our liberties more than they hinder the virus.

The coronavirus and Covid-19 are a hoax.

Deception. Selfishness. Facts.

We must choose.
