Our daughter’s diploma arrived today. In an ornate typeface on creamy white cardstock, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill announced her degree – bachelor of arts in environmental studies with honors.
Of course we know she finished school eight weeks ago. We gathered as a family to mark that milestone, but there was something about holding that diploma …
Cue “Turn! Turn! Turn!” by The Byrds and its celebration of life’s seasons. I remember her as a toddler scooping up fallen leaves in a park in Nebraska, later flying down the sledding hill at Northwood Elementary School in Ohio and heading off to summer camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.
The days are long but the years are short, they say, and the seasons bless us with both memories and anticipation of times to come.
A new job in a new state awaits her. She will continue the community outreach work that has always been her true north. We will watch from a distance now, marking new seasons in a life we are honored to share.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to your daughter for the big accomplishment! 🙂
Thank you!
