A friend of 30-Second Read shared a tale of hope and happiness for married folks.
“Hope and happiness” is how I interpret the anecdote. But the words all come from Bill Thrash of Shreveport, Louisiana:
“My wife and I dated our senior year of high school and through four years of college. Then we married and have been for 49 years.
“Had you asked me last week, ‘How well do you know your wife?’, I’d have given the standard ‘I know her like a book.’
“Last week she knocked my dirty socks off my feet. She told me something about herself that after 54 years together I didn’t know.
“She came into the kitchen where I was at the table on computer and said, ‘It’s a pet peeve of mine that people set a plate on the counter with food still on it. …’
“Now I wonder what else I don’t know.”
Bill, Bill. You lout! Don’t leave food-filled plates on the counter.
More hopefully, more happily, ’tis sweet that a mate may hold mysteries and surprises after five decades.
