Don’t miss National No Excuses Day

With my spouse, I raised two daughters into young adults with mostly good manners. Yet I missed National Daughters Day last week and, unlike apparently everyone else in social media, failed to publicly extol my own.

So, a question: What’s with all these “special” days?

September alone has dozens, such as National No Excuses Day (Sept. 27) – especially apt given today’s topic. And National No Rhyme or Reason Day (1st), which also sort of fits.

Many days tout things we’d all like more of. National Blueberry Popsicle Day (2nd). National Respect Day (18th). And International Day of Radiant Peace (22nd).

Or highlight things we’d like to dump: World Alzheimer’s Day (21st). Fight Procrastination Day (6th). National Report Medicare Fraud Day (12th).

But some days are silly. How else to explain Talk Like a Pirate Day and National Meow Like a Pirate Day (both 19th)? Or National Ghost Hunting Day (25th)? Make a Hat Day (15th)? National Dogs in Politics Day (23rd)?!

So, again, what’s with all these days?

Oh, never mind. Just see National Ask a Stupid Question Day (28th).

Thanks, Liz. I needed your read. I, too, did not post a tribute to either my wonderful daughter or dutiful son. I can’t keep up. Maybe we need a “Can’t Keep Up” day.
