Bully for studies. Without them, the 30-Second Read team wouldn’t have material for these weekly dribbles.
Today’s reverie was prompted by a study suggesting that middle-of-the-night pee breaks cost the U.S. billions.
For the study, thank the RAND Corporation, a nonprofit that works to “improve policy and decisionmaking through research and analysis.”
Thank Inverse.com for making “news” of the study. The website declared it No. 5 among “the 25 most WTF science stories of 2019.”
Inverse says scientists found a correlation between two or more nightly pee breaks and lost workplace productivity totaling $44.4 billion.
RAND says 54% of its 1,950 employees have Ph.D.’s.
Surely eggheads pee. Right?
Hmmm.
Perhaps not.
For those who don’t, here’s our advice, offered free after research by ordinary sleepers with honorary Ph.D.’s in basic life skills:
’Tis better to arise and pee than to wet the bed.
