Hermit’s delight

Pandemic times are tough for retirees who live alone. I offer some suggestions to pass the time while being sequestered.

The first gives you the opportunity to build your own wall! Unfortunately, you have to pay for it. Stack that TP you hoarded on the side of the attic stairs. Build it high and to the top.

The advantages are twofold (no pun intended). The stairs are a booby trap for unwanted intruders, and you’ve freed the linen closet for those cases of peanut butter.

Paper towel problem? I can help you with that!

Construct a “Tower of Power” in the front window. Occasionally remove a roll so concerned neighbors will know that you’re alive without peeking in.

If you have an artistic bent, try drawing “the merry exploits of King Covid” cartoons on the margins of your daily planner (whole page, if on lockdown). Example: “King Covid Does Cleveland.”

Finally, shut off all devices, hit the attic (be mindful of that wall) and grab your cache of Mad Magazines for one last read before “the Big One” comes.

Byeeee!
