It’s clear we Americans have nothing better than “thoughts and prayers” to stop our epidemic of mass shootings. We need new ideas.
And we have one!
Don’t stop shooters.
Harden the targets. Harden every human target.
Congress should mandate that every American always wear an armored vest and helmet except when bathing. It should do so, like, today.
The cost will be formidable, at least $1,000 per person, according to our research. Think armored jammies.
Americans themselves should pay, with one exception, as the reasonable cost of keeping our 400 million guns. We suspect they’ll do so with smiles.
Because guns! Glorious guns!
The exception? School districts should buy tactical gear for children to wear at school.
We found vests for $583 (“Bullet, strike and slash resistant,” the seller says) and helmets for $330 (“many great features”). That’s $913 per child before sales tax, which Congress should waive.
So, the total cost to equip all 72,822,113 people under age 18 counted in the 2020 Census:
Just $66,486,589,169.
So worthy – for our guns.
And so stylin’! Unlike those liberty-sucking face masks.
