Wired earbuds surely are making whoopee in a pocket of the backpack I tote to work. No kidding.
Days ago, I reached into that pocket for earbuds – and clasped a tangle of more than I thought I owned. My conclusion: They’d engaged in the earbud equivalent of making babies. How else could I have so many?
Frustrated, I emptied the backpack. Out came piece after piece of minor tech gear, like scarves from a magician’s fist. The haul:
- Four wired earbuds, various types.
- Three Apple charging adapters.
- Two AAA batteries.
- And one each: phone charging cord, Fitbit charging cord, wireless mouse, wireless presentation clicker, plug splitter.
On any other day, my pack might also hold a Snowball microphone, compact wireless keyboard or wireless microphone.
How did our backpacks become mobile gear dispensaries? How do we amass these accoutrements of tech. Why do phones and laptops need so much supporting cast?
Save me.
Save us all!
I don’t pine for the good ol’ days, before go-anywhere tech. But goodness. Give us the tech. Spare us the tangle.
